Disclosure: I am a paid ambassador for European Wax Centers. All opinions are 100% my own.
Ever see those ads in fashion mags and wonder how the models get such beautiful legs and perfect eyebrows? Chances are, they are waxing. Did you read that last word and secretly cringe to yourself? Well, I am here to tell you that it is not as bad as you might think. Or least, when it comes to European Wax Centers. You see, before this summer, my waxing experience was limited to a handful of times when I got my eyebrows waxed for special occasions. I had never, and I mean never, gotten my legs, underarms or bikini area waxed. But then I was approached by EWC to become a Summer Lovin’ ambassador for them, and it was the perfect excuse to push back my fears and try it out. (I mean, I have gotten tattoos and c-sections before, so this should be a piece of cake, right?)
For the past three months, I have been visiting the EWC centers in Deerfield Beach and Cooper City, using their Unlimited Wax Pass. (Prepaid or Student Passes also available). For my first visit, I figured I’d take it easy and just get my full legs done. For my second visit, I went a little bolder and got my full legs and eyebrows done. And for my last visit, I got my full legs, eyebrows, and bikini area. (I chickened out on the brazilian and my underarm hair just doesn’t grow long enough to wax. I guess that’s a good problem to have). For each visit, I underwent the 4 Steps to Gorgeous™ process. First they cleansed my skin with a pre-wax cleanser to remove makeup, oil or lotion from my skin. Next, they applied a pre-wax oil to ensure the wax adhered to those pesky hairs and not my skin. Then they applied their unique Comfort Wax™ and gently removed the hair for a virtually painless experience. Lastly, they pampered my skin with either their Ingrown Hair Serum (for body) or Calming Cream (for face).

If you know me, you know I like to ask a lot of questions. I learned a ton about waxing by speaking with the aestheticians (which are registered here in Florida). For instance, did you know that your skin is more sensitive at that time of the month, so you might want to schedule your visits around it? Or that your hair has to be a certain length before you can wax it? I also learned that you need to wax your legs a few times to get an even growth, and the Ingrown Hair Serum helps to thin hairs out. Razors only cut the top of the hair, while waxing is at the root so it lasts longer. It is better to tweeze the ingrown hairs or small hairs that are too short to wax, than to shave them. As for brows, I learned about the ideal length on the brows, the shapes that work for your face, and how to fill in the brows with the Natural Brow Powder to make them look magnificent and not drawn in. The EWC staff were so helpful and patient with me.
I am so glad I got pushed out of my comfort zone to try this out because now my eyebrows look so manicured and my legs shine, without needing to shave them everyday. I am not afraid to wear dresses and bathing suits. In fact, I have worn dresses everyday of my NYC and NOLA trips this summer because I can finally feel comfortable in my own skin.
There is still some summer left, and I’d love to give you the opportunity to love your skin too! Use the code LOPEZ nationwide, and receive a free wax! (Women get a free brow, underarm or bikini wax and men can choose from a brow, nose or ear wax).
