In Miami, there is an annual international art show called Art Basel. This event brings together work from over 2000 artists worldwide. To kick it off, searsStyle has put together an event, “The Art of Fashion” to be held this Friday, December 7th.

Yours truly was selected to be a guest at this event and I got a chance to shop for the outfit I plan to wear when I attend. Now I must admit that I really wasn’t sure what to expect from Sears because whenever I think of it, I think of tools and clothes for older women. But I was introduced to something I can only describe as pure social commerce at its finest, Shop Your Way. See my Google + story to learn more about what Shop Your Way is and how to use it. Shop Your Way gave me a chance to check out the latest styles and fashions of the season and plan out a catalogue of items that I could either purchase online, have shipped to the store for free, or use the items as inspiration when going shopping in Sears itself. I chose the latter as I much prefer to try on clothes before I buy.

I went shopping in Sears yesterday armed with a mission to fulfill several objectives:

  1. To purchase items that were metallic. According to searsStyle, metallics are hot this holiday.
  2. To purchase an item(s) made by either Bongo or the Kardashian Kollection. (The event Friday involves those two brands, so I wanted to get a head start.)
  3. To purchase a top, bottom, jewelry item, purse, and shoes.
  4. To stick within a budget of $60.
  5. To incorporate a butterfly item in there somewhere, as this is a signature symbol of my brand.
  6. To get in and out of the store in an hour. (When you are a mom, you take advantage of a babysitter when offered.)

Needless to say, MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

I selected items that incorporated gold and gold accents. Metallics, check!

I checked out the Kardashian Kollection and Bongo, and opted for two Bongo pieces. Targeted Brand, check!

I picked up a sweater blouse, jeans, a wristlet, black shoes, and a bracelet. Categories, check!

I spent $57.56 on everything by shopping on Friends & Family night. Budget, check!

I found a shirt with a butterfly incorporated in the back. Butterfly, check!

I got into the store just before 8:30pm and was out by 9:15pm. Time management, check!

I think shopping is an artform. Do you agree?

Here are some sneak peek images of my outfit. Full body pics to come after the event Friday:

I can’t wait to see what everyone else is wearing. I know the black patent leather high heels and black jeggings make me feel super hot. I am excited to wear some gold since I tend to stick to silver. Now I just need to figure out how to do my hair. I am thinking an updo might showcase the butterfly on my back more. Any suggestions?
