About a year ago, I met Jennifer Jhon at an event she was covering for TeenLink. I added her to my South Florida Bloggin’ Mamas FB group and she watched throughout the year as we slowly grew more and more. Well, recently it became time for the editor of South Florida Parenting Magazine to resign and Jennifer was promoted to this position.

Being placed in this new role, Jennifer discussed my group with the publisher who had been milling around a way to work with bloggers. After a few meetings, we were able to make the South Florida Parenting Magazine Mom-Approved Panel come to fruition. (You never know how relationships can be wielded in your favor, so take care with all whom you meet.)

The panel is made up of myself and 11 other fellow Bloggin’ Mamas who were selected based on applications they submitted. Throughout the next year, panelists will be attending events, reviewing products, providing tips on anything from travel to cooking to crafts, and will each have an opportunity to have an article and feature in the magazine.

In January, we were able to host a Bloggin’ Mamas Academy class at The Sun Sentinel Office in Deerfield. Then in February, we had our very first meetup of the panel at Jump A Roos in Tamarac. Jump A Roos is an indoor inflatable play space where you can bring your kids work off their energy, which some of the panelists’ kids did during our meeting. Jump A Roos provided us with pizza, salad, water and free admission to the play space as well as access to a Krav Maga class, which they offer there regularly. We also received an anti-bullying resource book from them. Toward the end, panelists had the opportunity to take some products home to review on behalf of the magazine.

I’m excited for the opportunity to not only serve on the panel, but to actually spearhead the program through my agency. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for us!
