I am a member of the South Florida Parenting Magazine’s Mom-Approved Panel and had a table at this event.
So as the summer approaches and the impending break looms, many of us moms find ourselves looking for summer camps to put our kids in. Attending this camp fair allowed me to check out the variety of different options in my area. The kids visited each booth in hopes of getting a stamp on their scavenger hunt card. We won a few things along the way like a Marlins shirt (now we have won 3 from different events), some knick knacks, free play, free bowling & more! I guess my luck extends to the kiddos.
My kids love blocks, especially my son. They were overjoyed to see the giant blocks that they could build little forts out of. My daughter took it upon herself to point out whatever blocks were broken, and since I had a purple short on, everyone thought we worked for the magazine.
Another cool thing the kids got to do was make some s’mores with graham crackers, chocolate icing and marshmallows. Of course there was no fire, so they were cold.
My kids got to indulge in their inner “Artist” (Arteest) thanks to Young At Art. They donned aprons and paint brushes to paint on top of whatever the kid before them painted.
My daughter was decked out in temporary tattoos that we had at our table to give away. She still doesn’t know the ones I have on me are real, and no one is going to tell her right? I said right?
Then the kids had the opportunity to pet a snake, but Joaquin was much more into it than Isabella. Snakes are not lizards, so she was afraid.
The kids had a ton of fun visiting everyone and doing the different crafts. They did not like sitting at the table with me, though my daughter wanted to get up on the stage nearby after watching all of the girls go up and sing. The highlight of the day for them was visiting with Big Bird.
Check out the Summer Camp Guide that South Florida Parenting Magazine has put out separately. You will be sure to find something in your area that your kid will love.
