It’s Good Friday today and I am going to make it extra good. I was recently introduced to a coffee brand, Cafe La Llave, via one of my PR contacts. I had seen the packaging on the store shelves and I think at one of my in-laws’ houses, but I had never tried it myself.

We don’t make too much coffee in my house because we don’t have a coffee maker (the pot broke). In fact, this was a matter of contention the last time my father-in-law visited because he loves his coffee. He did not like that we had to buy coffee from outside the house. We picked up one of those small filters (that look like mini butterfly nets) that you use to make your own coffee in a small pot, and occasionally we’ll make it. (I’ve been secretly hoping Keurig will offer me a coffee machine to review, but that’s a whole other story.)

Well, back to Cafe La Llave. This brand is interesting to me. When I searched about them on the internet, I learned that they are available for sale in Target & Walmart, that they are not available locally in California, and that their social media presence appears to be fan created. Yes, I located a community Facebook Page and a YouTube Channel that state that they are created by the fans of the brand. Imagine that. A brand so appealing to its fans, that they took the liberty to create a social media presence for the brand on their own. I also noted on the packaging that it states “Tostado Especialmente para el Gusto Latino” (Roasted for the Latino Taste). Yes, a brand clearly committing itself to the Latin market. (I think they should have a presence at Hispanicize.)

Something else that intrigued me was that they approached me with an offer of a basket full of coffee goodies for myself and for one of my readers, but offered me the ability to design the giveaway however I wanted.

Being that Easter is in two days, I realized that we spend so much time getting baskets ready for the kids that there is little to no focus on ourselves. (Mommy & Daddy’s baskets are usually pretty paltry). I figured, why not do the giveaway as an Easter basket for Parents? So without further ado, here is the basket I am giving away:

Here is what the basket includes:

  • 2-10oz Cafe La Llave
  • 2-1.75oz Cafe La Llave
  • 1-8.8oz Decaf Cafe La Llave
  • 1- Cafetera
  • 4- Tazas de Espresso

The giveaway starts today (March 29th, 2013) and ends Sunday night, March 31st 11:59pm EST. It is open to US residents ages 18 and older. Please see full guidelines in the contest widget.
