Disclosure: I am being provided tickets to attend this event with my kids.
Delray Beach Open Kidz Day February 16th
Little known fact about me: My Uncle Joe was a pro tennis player and instructor. In fact, he used to tell me stories about running warm up matches with Andre Agassi and Pete Sampras. I distinctly recall several times that he took me to the tennis court in an attempt to sway me to to love tennis just as much as he did. I was actually pretty good at making racket contact with the ball, but my speed could in no way live up to the speed and strength of my Uncle. Needless to say, I pursued other sports in which I could excel.
I think tennis would be a new thing for my kids who love basketball, baseball, and even soccer. Every place we have lived since my son was born has had a tennis court, and yet we have never actually used it. That’s why, when the opportunity arose for me to bring my kids for a day of tennis targeted for their speed, I jumped on the chance.

A Day for the Kidz at the Delray Beach Open by The Venetian® Las Vegas
Date: February 16, 2015
8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Delray Beach Stadium and Tennis Center

Since the kids are off for President’s Day, The Delray Beach Open by The Venetian® Las Vegas is hosting the ROGY Tennis Festival; a day of full of fun-filled activities and tennis! Play will include Red Ball (ages 6-8), Orange Ball (ages 8-10), Green Dot Ball (ages 10-14), and Yellow Ball (ages 11-16). Round-robin recreational-level matches will be on-going throughout the day, with each player participating in a minimum of three matches (singles and doubles). Activities will also include fun-filled tennis games with prizes, arts and crafts, face painting, balloon artists and more. There will be no formal matches or instruction, and parents/guardians must accompany children on court for tennis games.
Who knows? The kids could decide they love tennis and this might be the first step into their professional tennis career. You really never know, but providing them a variety of experiences can help them whittle down all of the possibilities so that they can focus on what they are most passionate about. Go ahead and use this day off from school to connect with your kids away from a tablet.
